Background
As with all lighting, roof top lights for maintenance needs need maintenance themselves sometimes. With their positioning, and infrequent use, failures are hard to identify and harder to fix.
Challenge
With the roof top lighting on BMS, when maintenance works happen, as well as emergency testing is to occur- coordination between the relevant parties can be difficult. Furthermore, the testing/maintenance party don't always inform the BMS control, or a switch over in BMS control team during their shift sometimes means that lights are left on for indefinite times. With the Mymesh system, both of these problems can be addressed- with inbuilt EM monitoring, time clocks to ensure these are turned off, and remote control to allow one point of contact.
Solution
A complete swap out of dated fittings to dimmable smart LED with integrated EM was undertaken by Harpers. With the Mymesh integrated into each fitting, not only is EM monitoring and diagnostics no longer required, as this is completed via the Lumitel platform, but control of the lights is no longer tied in with the BMS. With a emote command being sent into the network, lights can be turned on or off at any time, and with a fail-safe built in every morning- lights can no longer be left on indefinitely.
Benefits
Maintenace and EM monitoring costs are driven down due to this being completed by the Lumitel platform.
Energy costs are driven down as fittings can no longer be held on, nor do they need to be driven at 100% with the dali dimming function.
Coordination with teams to get the lights on are no longer required, and only an 'on' command via the platform is required.
